Microsoft is changing the way it builds software and how it makes its technology available to others. Through a set of broad-reaching changes to Microsoft technology and business practices, Microsoft will drive greater openness and interoperability with the broader IT community of developers, partners, and customers.
These changes are encompassed in three interoperability principles: open connections to Microsoft products, customer data portability, and enhanced support for industry standards. These principles apply to the following Microsoft products: Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2007, the 2007 Office release, Exchange Server 2007, and Office SharePoint Server 2007 (and successors).
