Establishment of IT parks
Now the establishment of IT parks in tier-2 cities like Trichy and Tirunelveli is being expedited. The Union Ministry of Industry and Commerce has notified the 49.89 hectare area at Navalpattu on the outskirts of the city as a special Economic Zone for IT and IT-enabled services in the Gazette of India.
The SEZ Project is being implemented by ELCOT.The IT Park at Gangaikondan, near Tirunelveli is taking shape fast. The IT Park has already arranged for water supply from Thamiraibarani river. An electric substation has been installed.Top companies like HCL, Sutherland, IBM, Infosys, TCS and Bosch has evinced interest in setting up units in these Parks.
